Real Madrid reject Ronaldo exit talk

Real Madrid turned down the opportunity to sign goalkeeper David de Gea from Manchester United last summer, club president Florentino Perez said today while playing down the possibility of bidding for the Spain worldwide again.

"During the election period, I've tried to be respectful and keep out of everything".

Even so, Perez said he was convinced Ronaldo would stay and affirmed that his Real contract was protected by a one billion euro release clause.

Ronaldo is at the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation, playing for Portugal. Both Real and Inter, however, are attempting to hold out for higher fees than those offered but United do not want to overpay for either player.

"In football and life, in general, we encounter situations which we don't expect and we have to find the best solution for everyone. The only thing I know is that Cristiano is very angry with the treatment he has received in the press", he added.

Bayern Munich derided the rumours linking it with a potential move for Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, mocking the claims as "the duck of the day".

As per reports, the alleged irregularities were in relation to money the Portuguese star had in the Virgin Islands, although officials acknowledged adjustments to this structure in 2014, where the player paid back an extra 7 million Euros in tax.
