NBA Draft: 10 things I think will happen on draft night

The Boston Celtics now have the No. 3 pick in the draft after agreeing to send the top pick to the 76ers, a move that Boston made since they don't think there's a clear cut top prospect in this class.

The future first round pick will be the Los Angeles Lakers' 2018 pick if it's within the No. 2 to No. 5 range of the 2018 draft. If that happens, Boston will get either the Sacramento Kings' or the Sixers' No. 1 pick in 2019 - whichever one is more favorable to the Celtics.

The Sixers are expected to select Washington point guard Markelle Fultz with the top overall pick.

UCLA's Lonzo Ball has always been linked to his hometown Los Angeles Lakers.

What is interesting is that this is only one of a handful of times in league history that a team has traded the first overall selection between the time that the draft order was announced and the actual start of the National Basketball Association season.

Ainge confirmed the Celtics brought in Tatum for a workout Monday, and that the team plans to host Jackson for a workout Tuesday.

Depending on how much money they are willing to spend and how enticing the No. 3 overall pick turns out to be, Boston could come into next season with an extremely formidable roster. It means that the 76ers will have Ben Simmons and this year's first overall pick on the court next year along with Joel Embiid, 2014's third overall pick too provided they all remain healthy. Expect them to draft a shooting forward, like Josh Jackson or Jayson Tatum.

The disparity between the top picks is so small that trading the first pick away in this draft is justifiable. The Celtics currently have Isaiah Thomas, so the point guard position isn't a big need right now.

The 6-foot-4 Fultz. who has a wingspan of 6-9 3/4, averaged 23.2 points, 5.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds and shot 41.3 percent from 3-pointers during his only collegiate season. National Basketball Association analysts are predicting that Philadelphia is trying to make a "Big 3", with Fultz, Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid as their core three players.
