President Pence hires own lawyer for Russian Federation probes

In a second tweet, Trump touted his "powerful" presence on social media, despite widespread criticism that his recurring rants on Twitter and other online media have only compounded his legal and political problems.

Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller special counsel in the Russian Federation investigation last month, testified to lawmakers Tuesday that he has seen no evidence of good cause to fire Mueller and that he is confident that Mueller will have "the full independence he needs" to investigate thoroughly. "Witch Hunt" he tweeted from the White House shortly before a day trip to Miami.

A former senior official said Mr. Mueller's investigation was looking at money laundering by Trump associates.

"Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations", Rosenstein said.

The Department of Justice has appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to head the investigation into Russian involvement in USA policy.

The FBI probe, now in the hands of special counsel Robert Mueller, reportedly shifted its focus to allegations of obstruction in the days after Trump fired the agency's then-director James Comey on May 9. Although USA Today also noted that the tweet came shortly after a Washington Post report that Mueller's team is also investigating Trump son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner's business dealings.

The Washington Post, citing unidentified officials, reported on Wednesday that Mueller was investigating the Republican president for possible obstruction of justice.

Mueller, a former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is leading the Russian probe after being appointed by the Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in the Department of Justice.

Also unclear was whether the president's comment confirming he was under investigation was based on direct knowledge or media reports that Mueller is examining whether the president obstructed justice by firing Comey last month. Contrary to the CNN story, which relied on unnamed sources, Comey's testimony confirmed Trump's assertion.

The Washington Post reported that special counsel Robert Mueller is seeking interviews with three Trump administration officials who were not involved in his campaign.

Comey told a Senate panel last week he believed Trump dismissed him to undermine the FBI's Russian Federation probe.

"The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal", said Mark Corallo, the spokesman, according to the Post.

Pence has seldom addressed the Russian Federation issue, which has overshadowed Trump's White House agenda.

"We do not know what this report refers to", Jamie Gorelick, Kushner's attorney, said in a statement to CNN.

He, however, said that whatever Trump did was "a very disturbing thing, very concerning".
