Former FBI director James Comey's scathing testimony has boosted the case for obstruction of justice charges against President Donald Trump, legal experts say.

The first lady tweeted the news on Sunday evening after she arrived at the White House with Trump and their 11-year-old son, Barron.

The Republican had turned to social media to hit Comey after the ex-FBI chief testified before the Senate Intelligence committee Thursday and admitted he had leaked some conversations between himself and Trump to the press, via a third party.

The move to focus on leaks comes as the Russian Federation investigation proceeds on multiple tracks - one investigation conducted by special counsel Robert Mueller, and others being led by Capitol Hill committees including the Senate intelligence panel that heard from Comey last week.

Hillary Clinton email probe, compared to anything Trump did to influence the FBI investigation into Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser.

The president's statement seemed to be in line with the response by Trump's personal lawyer, Marc Kaskowitz, to the Comey testimony.

Within 90 seconds of being on air, Trump Jr. undermined the denials made by his father refuting James Comey's testimony. By causing memos about conversations between Trump and Comey to become public, Comey had committed an "unauthorized disclosure of privileged information", Kasowitz claimed. Only if that Nixonian pronouncement is correct can Trump prove who has been telling the truth – the president or the lawman.

Comey wrote that he said nothing, enduring an "awkward silence" at the dinner's end, when Trump repeated it and Comey told him: "You will always get honesty from me".

Trump is the one who cleared his Oval Office of other senior officials in February to meet alone with Comey.

Ronaldo's Real rage genuine or a cunning ploy?
Ronaldo maintains his innocence in the tax evasion case and insisted that he did everything in accordance with Spanish law. Perez was re-elected Real president after he was the only candidate to file his nomination for the post.

During his testimony, Comey was asked by Sen.

Benjamin Wittes, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and friend and confidant of Comey, told Yahoo News on Friday afternoon that the proper response to any suggestion the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director broke the law by leaking a personal memo to the press was "laughter".

Comey said he considered Trump's "hope" an order or directive to kill the Russian meddling investigation and let Flynn go, which he never would have followed.

If the tapes exist, they can be subpoenaed if they are found to be evidence in a criminal investigation.

Trump's last statement, that there would have been nothing wrong if he had told Comey to drop the investigation, is the reason that none of this may matter in terms of the ongoing investigation. Why wouldnt Comey say so sooner?

There is something like a mass delusion, in policy circles and beyond, that if a sensible person can be the last one to speak with Trump before he makes a decision, the right decision will be made, and the Republic-or, at least, the Paris climate accord or our relations with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies-will be saved. Nearly a third of the 1,000 people interviewed said they are "not sure" which of the two they trust more. There's no ambiguity in it, there's no, 'Hey, I'm hoping, ' " Trump Jr. said.

Comey is unlikely to play any sort of direct role in the investigation now led by special counsel Robert Mueller, his predecessor as FBI director.

And on "Fox News Sunday", Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel said that she believes the president's version of events over Comey's - but then she speculated.
