Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant intends to opt out of his current contract but still plans on re-signing with the team, ESPN.com's Chris Haynes reported Monday.

According to Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News, the Warriors' Swiss-army-knife will listen to offers, but will likely wait to hear for a deal between three-to-four years for more money than Golden State can offer, aside from being a winning team.

Players like Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston will hit the market as unrestricted free agents on July 7 when National Basketball Association free agency officially begins. He played a big role this season in leading Golden State to its second National Basketball Association championship in three years over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

If Durant can sign a deal earning roughly $4 million less than league max - $36 million per year - it will allow the Warriors to use Iguodala's Bird rights and increase the team's chances of retaining the 2015 Finals MVP and Sixth Man of the Year candidate. The Hamptons 5 - consisting of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Iguodala, Draymond Green and Durant, who all met together last summer during the free-agency recruiting period - has a pathway of remaining intact.

It comes as no surprise that KD wants to stay in the Bay Area. He has forged partnerships with California-based companies such as YouTube, Acorns and Postmates.
