The US justified the strike saying its planes had acted to defend US-backed forces seeking to capture Raqqa, the Islamic State stronghold in northeast Syria, 9news.com reported.
On Sunday, a USA jet shot down a Syrian Su-22 fighter-bomber near the city of Tabqa.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which tracks Syria's war, said government forces expanded their presence in Raqqa province by capturing from IS the town of Rasafa. The truce was meant to be extended but now appears to have collapsed.
Fighting and bombardment also resumed early Tuesday in the contested city of Daraa and nearby areas where a 48-hour truce went into effect on Saturday.
Activists say a "de-escalation agreement" brokered by Iran, Russia and Turkey in May has brought little relief.
Russian Federation has fighter aircraft, air defense weapons and other military assets in Syria in support of President Bashar Assad's government.
The Syrian government said the truce was part of national reconciliation efforts.
The top US military officer says Washington is working to re-establish communications aimed at avoiding mishaps involving USA and Russian air operations in Syria.
The government says that later this year it will send a C-130 cargo plane to the region to help transport members of the coalition and their equipment.
