"Witch Hunt", tweeted the president as he both confirmed a blockbuster Washington Post story from Wednesday and contradicted himself yet again about his decision to fire James Comey in May.
It was not clear what prompted the statement, although it came hours after The Washington Post reported that the business dealings of Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are being examined as part of Mueller's investigation. He also told the Senate Intelligence Committee in his June 8 testimony that he believed Trump had directed him to drop a related agency investigation into the president's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn.
She also echoed concern that the president will try to fire Mueller and Rosenstein.
Feinstein added, "That's undemocratic on its face and a blatant violation of the president's oath of office". "Regulations way down, jobs and enthusiasm way up!", Trump tweeted.
Although the president is unlikely to be indicted if the Mueller's investigation finds any criminal wrongdoing, Mueller's findings could lead to calls for impeachment in Congress, where a few Democrats already are pushing for impeachment.
It was unclear whether his tweet about being under investigation was based on direct knowledge or new media reports that suggest Mr Mueller is examining whether the president obstructed justice by firing Mr Comey.

He continued: "Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations".
A Department of Justice spokesperson declined to address what prompted the statement. A spokesman for Mueller declined to comment for the Guardian, and a spokesman for Trump's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment. An anonymous source told CNN in May that they were concerned for the president because he was gaining weight and seemed to be retreating into himself.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein wrote a memo the White House used to justify the firing of the ex-FBI chief.
Rosenstein has been overseeing the Russian Federation probe since Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself. Comey testified that Trump directed him in February to drop an FBI investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn relating to the Russian Federation matter. Since then Mueller, who served as FBI director before Comey, has taken over the investigation. In the same interview the President suggested that he was thinking about the Russian Federation investigation at the time he terminated Comey.
Trump also attacked the media Friday morning. The White House denies any collusion.
The White House has denied any collusion, and Trump has repeatedly complained about the probe, saying Democrats can not accept his election win. The transition, a nonprofit structurally separate from the Trump campaign, continues to operate with a small staff.
