Lewis Hamilton admitted his victory in the Canadian Grand Prix was crucial to his and his Mercedes team's championship hopes this year.
The pit stop to fix the damage left the Ferrari at the back of the field just six laps in. He eventually finished fourth. "Seeing the Ferrari further back, I thought, 'That's fantastic for us'". "And then Max I think took his chance on the outside, and ran over our front wing". He did not do it on goal because normally you would get a puncture so in that regard he was lucky he did not get one. But we had damage on the front wing, which we didn't notice initially. "It's clear that with the damage that we had unless there was trouble in front or we got extremely lucky with safety cars that it would be hard".
"Our first one-two as the team [in 2017] is a really proud moment for us". Plus he spent part of the rest of the first lap running slowly under caution behind he safety vehicle.
"It's a bit hard to read - I think Mercedes were very strong in the race, but it's also a different story when you can control the race, the pace, the tyres".
Ayrton Senna was the victor of three Formula One world championships in 1988, 1990 and 1991.
"Today I only had fun when I saw the flag", said Ricciardo.
That changed when he began running laps at full speed.
Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel share three wins a piece this year. We came here with a much better understanding of the auto and we delivered a real blow to the Ferraris.
"Obviously the beginning of the race didn't go our way, but I was fairly confident I could get a podium - one lap short", Vettel told reporters.
US Secret Service says it doesn't have any Trump tapes
After asking for a timeline on their release, Spicer said they would come out "when the president's ready to release it". If President Trump did secretly record his private White House meetings, he didn't enlist the Secret Service to help.
Matters got worse at the end of lap five, when Vettel was hauled into the pits for repairs to his front wing. There were some manoeuvres where I almost wanted to close my eyes but ultimately the team and vehicle deserved more.
While his task was made easier by Vettel's issues, it should take nothing away from the 32-year-old's flawless performance in which he completed yet another hat-trick; that of pole position, the race victory and fastest lap.
"He looked like he was doing a good job, and I just wanted to acknowledge that".
The podium interview was exciting too, with Sir Patrick Stewart making an appearance and drinking one of Ricciardo's famous shoeys-that's champagne out of the driver's shoe, if you're not familiar with the practice, and yes it's as disgusting as it sounds.
"They did such great work analysing what went wrong and giving us a summary and saying this is where we went wrong". "A lap longer we could've been third, but would, could, should".
"It was great for me and the entire team".
Hamilton will be looking to snatch that lead from Vettel at Azerbaijan where the next race will be held from 23rd-25th June 2017.
"It was still a challenge but it was a bit like the other races I've had here when it has been well managed from the front". "But when you have damage, you focus on what's going on".
