President Donald Trump is taking to Twitter denounce reports that the Russian Federation investigation is widening to examine whether he tried to obstruct justice.
He said he recused himself from the Justice Department's Russian Federation investigation only because of a regulation to require the step because of his involvement in the Trump campaign.
Mr Comey told the Senate Intelligence Committee on 8 June he believed Mr Trump had directed him in February to drop an FBI probe into former national security adviser Michael Flynn that was part of the broader Russian Federation investigation. Despite voters in the Politico poll indicating by a two-to-one margin that Comey's statements have hurt the president, Trump has maintained that he feels vindicated by the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director's testimony.
