Prisoners Donnie Russell Rowe and Ricky Dubose were on a state corrections bus with 31 other inmates Tuesday morning when the pair got out of a locked rear section of the bus, officials said.
Two Georgia inmates described as "dangerous beyond description" remained on the run Wednesday after disarming and killing their guards on a prison bus, authorities said. "I still have their blood on my shoes".
Heavily-armed law enforcement officers cleared the retail stores one by one along Eatonton Road, and then moved to search a nearby Budget Inn room by room. Officers with the U.S. Marshals Task Force are on standby waiting for verification that Rowe and Dubose are actually there.
The Oconee County Sheriff's Office posted an open letter to "Donnie and Ricky".
According to the Sheriff, they have or at least did have two 9mm Glock pistols with high capacity magazines.
A Georgia sheriff says authorities still don't know the whereabouts of two escaped Georgia inmates accused of killing two prison guards.
Both men were being held at Baldwin State Prison in Milledgeville, just one county over from where they escaped in Putnam County.
"They are unsafe beyond description", Sills added.

Department of Corrections Commissioner Greg Dozier told reporters: "We lost two of our fellow officers, two of our kin".
Monica, 42, is survived by his wife, while Billue was a 58-year-old who is survived by his two sons.

"We are still desperately looking for these two individuals".
Myrick said it is a possibility that Rowe and Dubose had planned the escape, but that they were not informed of their transfer on Tuesday.
"Please keep the families of our officers in your thoughts and prayers", Jeal Salter, the spokeswoman, said in an email.
Sills says authorities aren't sure where they went after that, but he suspects they're no longer in the Madison area.
Deal says of the officers: "The selflessness and courage of these two courageous souls will not be forgotten, nor will their sacrifice and service".
Curtis Billue and escaped from a prison transfer bus around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who was testifying Tuesday morning on Capitol Hill, decried the attacks during his appearance before a Senate subcommittee. He was convicted of two counts of armed robbery and also sentenced to 20 years for two counts of aggravated assault and five years for possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
According to police in Athens, Georgia, the inmates committed a burglary in Madison, Georgia, and changed out of their white prison clothes.

He said the company's operations team on the ground confirmed citizen video on social media showing the blimp going down. Emergency crews have responded to the site of the crash, which was in an open field outside of the course.
