"Sadly, I can confirm that the number of people that have died is now 17", London police commander Stuart Cundy said.
At least 17 people were killed as flames raced through the 24-story Grenfell Tower early Wednesday, trapping people inside their apartments. The tweeter also said she was "asking if anyone need help that was affect by the fire".
Commissioner Cotton, who has been a London firefighter since she was 18, said: "When I turned up here not long after 2am yesterday the scene I was confronted with was an unparalleled scene to anything that I've seen before".
However, London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton warned that initial investigations will take "weeks", and finding answers could be a "very slow and painstaking process".
The focus centres on the cladding fitted to external walls on the 1970s concrete block, as part of a £8.7-million ($11 million) refit completed only a year ago.
The tower, built in 1974, contains 120 apartments, according to its management company Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation.
More than 200 firefighters worked through the night and parts of the building were still seen as being unsafe.
Six bodies have so far been recovered from the gutted 24-storey tower, while 11 have been located inside but can not yet be removed.
"Many of us across the country have been caught up in an election, knocking on housing estate doors right across the country, travelling up to the top floors of tower blocks and we know as politicians that the conditions in this country are unacceptable". "I don't want to see social unrest coming from this, but there is a very hard and angry atmosphere up there with the council", she said.

In a statement, Capitol Police said Griner was in "good condition in the hospital, having been shot in the ankle". President Donald Trump , accompanied by first lady Melania Trump, made a hospital visit on Wednesday evening.
One neighbour said he believed someone had jumped from about 10 to 15 floors to escape the fire.
Residents said repairs, including the addition of some sort of cladding, had been made to the exterior of the block recently.
The partial collapse of Ronan Point Tower in east London in 1968 led to an overhaul of building regulations.
Speaking on Radio 4's Today programme, the Labour MP insisted that tower blocks, similar to Grenfell Tower, should have been demolished.
"Once the scene is secure, once the recovery is complete, then an investigation will take place into the cause of the fire and if there are any lessons to be learned", the Prime Minister said.
The fire service said rescuers did not expect to find any more survivors in the smouldering ruins of Grenfell Tower, in north Kensington.
More than £1 million has been raised to help those affected by the fire, while volunteers and charities helped feed and shelter people who could not return to their homes overnight.
Community centres, churches and mosques in the area say they have been inundated with donations of food, water and clothing.
More than 250 firefighters and 44 fire engines battled the blaze on Wednesday, with some sustaining "minor injuries".
The families and friends of those missing have put up posters in the hope that they will be found alive.
