The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that the Senate Judiciary Committee will investigate President Donald Trump's firing of former FBI Director James Comey.

Those who have agreed to be interviewed, according to the Post, include Dan Coats, director of national intelligence; Mike Rogers, chief of the National Security Agency; and Richard Ledgett, who recently left his post as deputy to Rogers.

Mueller has requested interviews with three current or former senior intelligence officials, the Washington Post reported on Wednesday.

Last Thursday, Comey told the same Senate panel during a hearing that he was confused over the circumstances under which he was sacked on May 9, and said Trump had "hoped" that he would drop the FBI investigation into former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn over alleged collusion with Russian Federation during the Trump campaign.

The report, which cites five unnamed officials, states that the investigation into Mr Trump began after FBI director James Comey was sacked by the president on May 9th.

"The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal", Corallo said in an email to BuzzFeed News. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., asked Sessions whether Trump records his conversations in the White House.

Mr Sessions declined to comment, stating only that he had "confidence" in Mr Mueller.

Ruddy told CNN on Tuesday that Mueller and Trump "had a private conversation" and suggested it was "unethical" before the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director was named special counsel. That rationale, though, was quickly undercut by the President himself during a nationally televised broadcast in which he said that the Russian Federation investigation had played a part in his decision.

The crime of obstruction of justice could lead to a move to impeach Trump in Congress, something that some Democratic lawmakers had called for, provided that the unfolding facts prove that to be warranted.

"Further, I have no knowledge of any such conversations by anyone connected to the Trump campaign", he said.

Comey testified before the Senate intelligence committee last week and confirmed that he gave Mueller the memos he wrote detailing his interactions with Trump ahead of his firing.

"I saw that as an absolute distraction - I think this president has been terrific at throwing up smoke screens and distractions - and that's exactly what I thought that was", said Sidlow.

Obstruction of justice is defined as someone who intentionally tampers with or intervenes with an ongoing investigation. He then took a swipe at Sessions saying the attorney general didn't understand the legalities of governing. Comey stopped short of directly accusing Trump of obstruction, however.
