Super 40: Nine Army-trained Kashmir students crack IIT exam

The Army has been providing coaching and study materials for students from the State aspiring to clear the prestigious entrance examination. "The 40 students selected from the state are provided with 11 months of free lodging and classes at zero cost", the spokesperson said.

The Army, along with Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL), conducts "Super 40" programme in J&K with the aim to train students in the state to help them clear IIT entrance test. Thirty-five students enrolled for this programme, of which 24 cleared JEE Mains and are eligible for a seat in the NITs. "The world flocks to see the Valley, but people are not being able to come because of the tension", said Rawat, who has served in Jammu and Kashmir in four stints.

" You were born well after the militancy peaked in the 1990s in Kashmir", General Rawat said.

This was also the first time that five girls from the Valley had joined the Army's Super-40 batch.

Army Chief Bipin Rawat on Tuesday met and congratulated the Kashmiri students of Super-40 initiative who cracked the 2017 IIT-JEE examination.
