Saudi FM insists Qatar not under 'blockade'

Saudi Arabia insisted on Tuesday that its neighbour Qatar was not under blockade as a Gulf diplomatic dispute escalated amid increasing global concern over its effects on ordinary people.

Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies accuse Qatar of supporting "terrorism" in the region, while Doha's supporters have warned of a humanitarian crisis.

Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Erdogan would hold talks on the crisis with United States President Donald Trump.

Formally, it may take more than three years for the U.S.to exit, but Trump said last week that his administration will stop all work on the accord immediately.

The sources confirmed that Saudi Arabia threatened to withdraw financial aid to the Somali government unless Somalia change its neutral stand in which it has called for an end to the political dispute between Qatar and the other Arab nations through dialogue via Islamic organisations like the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).

A Qatari food company owner said shipments began arriving on Sunday from Oman, and that some 12 vessels were headed to Qatar from Sohar and Salalah.

Typically, cargo for Qatar stops at Dubai's massive deep-water Jebel Ali port, then gets put on smaller boats heading to Doha.

In addition to closing their airspace to Qatar Airways, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Bahrain have also shut down the airline's offices.
