Congress Has What It Needs to Impeach Trump

Where are your fake Comey tapes? And, once again Trump said the FBI's probe of Russian interference in the 2016 was "just an excuse" for the Dems having lost the election. "No, I didn't say that".

President Trump and Romania's President Klaus Iohannis at a press conference in the Rose Garden of the White House on Friday.

The president insists Mr Comey lied in parts of his testimony.

TRUMP: I hardly know the man.

Pelosi is citing Trump's habit of early morning tweeting, as well as Thursday's congressional testimony by former FBI Director James Comey.

A reporter asked the president about Comey's assertion that Trump told him "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go", referring to the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's ties to Russian Federation.

Trump said there was "no collusion, no obstruction" and that "Comey's a leaker". Before Friday's news conference, he broke his silence.

Mr Comey told the Senate panel that he shared an unclassified memo about his February conversation with Mr Trump about Mr Flynn because he hoped it would lead to the appointment of a special counsel.

Mr Trump also seized on Mr Comey's revelation that he had directed a friend to release memos he'd written documenting his conversations with the president to a reporter.

In the other Hexagonal qualifier on the night, Panama and Honduras finished in a 2-2 draw that helps the USA stay third in the standings.

The reporter also asked if there were tapes of Comey's conversations with the president.

Mr Comey maintains that as a private citizen, he saw no problem supplying some segments of his testimony in advance to the New York Times. "I'll tell you about it over a short period of time", he added. "I'm not going to say, 'I want you to pledge allegiance'".

In Senate testimony, Comey said he wrote records of his conversations with Trump "immediately" after they took place - something he did not do with Trump's predecessor President Barack Obama - because he was concerned Trump might "lie".

Trump stands alone in that assertion; all US intelligence agencies, Comey, and even many Republicans, agree Russians did meddle in the election.

"The president said he is going to address the issue of the tapes, whether the tapes exist or not, next week", Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow told ABC's "This Week".

"WOW, Comey is a leaker!" Comey also bluntly accused the White House of spreading "lies, plain and simple".

On Friday, Trump called the testimony a "total and complete vindication" of him.

"But he testified under oath and I do believe that he's an individual of integrity who would not deliberately lie under oath", Collins told CNN.

Lewandowski said it's "highly unlikely" that the president is now under investigation since Comey was sacked. (To be vindicated is to be cleared of suspicion.) He seemed to be referring to a May 9 letter to Comey announcing his firing, in which the president said that the FBI director informed him, "on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation".
