Stanley Cup 2017: Pittsburgh Penguins beat Nashville Predators to retain title

That's a record, by a huge margin.

Pittsburgh put the two youngsters alongside the best player in hockey and reaped the dividends along the way to a second consecutive Stanley Cup championship.

Murray became the first rookie goalie to post two shutouts in the Cup Final since the National Hockey League expanded to 12 teams in 1967-68. It was his second straight shutout of the series.

Patric Hornqvist scored with 1:35 to play in regulation as Pittsburgh beat the Nashville Predators 2-0 on Sunday in Game 6 of the Cup final. The Penguins won the first two games at home, and then the Predators won the next two games at home. It's conceivable that the referees might've somehow looked at the replay and determined the whistle did affect play, and therefore it wasn't a good goal.

Hainsey, who joined the team at the trade deadline, might not have played much with the Penguins this year.

Predators Coach Peter Laviolette got everything he could out of his team and they went down fighting to the end in a 2-0 loss late in the game. Hagelin iced the game with 14 seconds left when, with Rinne out of the goal in favor of an extra attacker, he scored into the empty net.

Murray hasn't allowed a goal in a span of 126:52, since allowing a second-period goal to Viktor Arvidsson.

But it's the lowest start for a movie in that franchise outside of the first film and it's definitely underperforming. The studio should make back its production budget this weekend once worldwide ticket sales are taken into account.

Pekka Rinne stopped 27 shots in defeat.

This one was a nail-biter, the first competitive game in a series that had followed no formula except that the home team had won each of the first five games. Trevor Daley took an undisciplined unneccesary penalty on Ellis, right after Olli Maatta took a penalty on Viktor Arvidsson, giving Nashville 32 seconds of 5 on 3.

You can barely hear the whistle, but it did sound just a split-second before Colton Sissons poked the puck into the net.

The Penguins had a 9-8 edge in shots to open Game 6, while the Predators failed to capitalize on the only power-play opportunity with 6:46 left, when Ian Cole was sent off for interference. Murray made a tremendous save on Mike Fisher, prevented a goal. However, the towering Finn would find his game again in the friendly confines of Bridgestone Arena, shining in Nashville's 5-1 and 4-1 victories in Games Three and Four to knot the series.

Filip Forsberg (Predators) - As has been the case throughout the postseason, Forsberg was among the most unsafe players on the ice. The Penguins have the distinct edge in having outscored the Predators 9-2 in the opening period. They needed to say something. Ottawa did the same thing, forcing the Penguins to double overtime to clinch the Eastern Conference title.

"This year, we went in with that expectation that maybe we'd have a legitimate shot at it", center Matt Cullen said. His teammates made a mistake in a scoreless game and he cleaned up the mess and gave them a chance to win.
