Tillerson told reporters at the State Department shortly before Trump spoke that this blockade is hindering the USA -led military campaign against ISIS, creating hardships for the people of Qatar and "impairing us and other worldwide business activities in the region".
The gas-rich emirate is home to the largest USA airbase in the Middle East and thus a key ally in the US-led coalition against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria. Saudi Arabia and its neighbors have also been accused of this, as Trump himself seemed to hint Friday.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, whose AK Party has its roots in Islamist politics and who has voiced support for the Brotherhood, signalled his firm backing for Qatar by swiftly signing a law to send troops to a Turkish base there.
The US president s rhetoric on Friday, however, did not appear likely to calm spirits in Doha.
"The nation of Qatar has unfortunately been a funder of terrorism, and at a very high level", Trump said during an appearance alongside Romania's president at the White House. "Sorry, but we will continue to give all kinds of support to Qatar", he said.
Tillerson's more measured approach to the crisis reflects wildly contrasting views on the crisis. The combined message was that Qatar should end its links to extremist groups while also urging all parties to work toward a solution.
"The Kingdom of Bahrain stressed the necessity of Qatar's commitment to correct its policies and to engage in a transparent manner in counter-terrorism efforts, allowing the countries of the region to confront all terrorist entities and eliminate all those who support them".
Tillerson told reporters at the State Department that the crisis, which has cut transportation links and trade, had begun to hurt ordinary people in Qatar, impaired business dealings and harmed the USA battle against the Islamic State militant group. I won't name other countries, but we are not done solving the problem, but we will solve that problem.
The Turkish leader has urged Saudi Arabia, as "the largest and most powerful state in the Gulf", to reduce tensions and lift sanctions.
"There are humanitarian consequences to this blockade". He said that the cutoff is hindering the fight against Islamic State and provoking food shortages.

Numerous others added to the list are figures associated with the Muslim Brotherhood who have made Qatar a base, including Brotherhood spiritual leader Yousef al-Qaradawi.
Qatar's ambassador to the U.S. told the Financial Times on Thursday that Saudi Arabia and its allies planned to give a list of demands - expected to include issues related to terrorism - to Doha within 10 days and that the Qatari leadership would consider taking action where they felt it was appropriate.
But in language common to the three countries' announcements, the UAE said it drew a distinction between Qatar's government and its people.
Qatar, meanwhile, pledged those nations' citizens will have "complete freedom" to stay in the energy-rich country.
The president has followed the lead of Saudi Arabia and the UAE, publically backing them in their media war with Qatar.
On 5 June, the countries cut diplomatic ties to Qatar and ordered all Qataris out within 14 days.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is calling on Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to immediately ease their blockade on Qatar.
