It Kind of Sounds Like Donald Trump Jr. Confirmed James Comey's Testimony

Rozell said that Trump deciding to testify under oath may be his best move and would show that he is not afraid of the truth.

Mr Trump's aides have dodged questions about whether conversations relevant to the Russian Federation investigation have been recorded, and so did the president, in series of teases.

But it's still a big leap to think that Trump would be willing to take the rare step for a president and testify before a congressional committee in a public forum. "If there are tapes, please - and the presidency quibbled on this - bring those tapes forward".

It's entirely possible that Trump Jr. misspoke and meant to say that his father never told Comey anything related to dropping the Flynn investigation, but in trying to support the Trump family's strongman image, Trump Jr. just made his dad seem like a liar. As he publicly stated the next day, he did say to Mr. Comey, "General Flynn is a good guy, he has been through a lot", and also "asked how is General Flynn is doing".

On Friday during a news conference, Trump denied those allegations, effectively accusing Comey of lying under oath to Congress.

Trump ousted Bharara in mid-March along with other top federal prosecutors across the country.

Yet the President's eldest son appeared to back up Mr Comey's version of their conversation.

Trump wrote earlier on Friday on Twitter that the former FBI head had vindicated him by telling the Senate Intelligence Committee that the president had not been personally under investigation in the Russian Federation probe.

"It's hard to tell and that's why we need every iteration of information that's going to include Comey, if [Attorney General Jeff] Sessions testifies tomorrow, that's going to be essential, Robert Mueller's investigation", he said".

During his Congressional briefing organised by the powerful Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Thursday, Comey confessed that he leaked the information about his interaction with the U.S. president.

They separately wrote the White House counsel Don McGahn asking whether the recordings exist, and if so, that they be produced to the committee by June 23.

"It's also true I think from based on what I see as a third party and out of government that there's no basis to say there's no obstruction", he said. Comey also said that he considered the comment to be a directive.

"It crossed a boundary that the president should not have crossed".

She added: "With all the noise, with all the intensity of the media coverage and obviously what makes headlines, ultimately we're really focused on why the American people elected Donald Trump as their president". "I didn't say that", Trump said at the presser on Friday.

"I hardly know [Comey]".

"I would be glad to tell him exactly what I just told you", Trump told a reporter.

Apart from the questions about Comey, the two leaders pledged cooperation against terrorism amid a deepening diplomatic crisis in the Middle East.

He also accused Qatar, a key USA military partner, of funding terrorism "at a very high level, " and said solving the problem in the tiny Persian Gulf nation could be "the beginning of the end of terrorism".
