Addison Russell returns to Cubs following abuse allegation

First baseman and team leader Anthony Rizzo said he noticed no difference with Russell. "They've given me the chance to sort out things I need to sort out".

There's more there, too (here's another screengrab from Twitter).

But just as social media helped fuel Russell's popularity, it also has the power to take it all away.

His wife, Melisa, posted a photo Wednesday on Instagram with a caption suggesting he was unfaithful to her.

It started as blog candy but became something that could derail the career and reputation of a young Chicago Cubs shortstop. It was reported on Thursday that Major League Baseball was looking into the comments, but that a full-blown investigation had not begun. Wait in line for his autograph? Epstein said the shortstop was not suspended. "That's why we're taking it very seriously".

However, an Major League Baseball source told WSCR's Bruce Levine that no such investigation is confirmed (although multiple other outlets reported an investigation is open).

It looks like baseball players are learning how to treat their wives from basketball players, many of whom cheat on their ladies and are often in hot water over domestic abuse scandals.

The new "iMac Pro" has the similar design as that of normal 27-inch version, however it comes in a fresh Space Gray color variant. It is loaded with various intense features in all aspects, such as workstation, graphics , processors , memory storage and I/O.

Russell denied the accusation on Thursday.

"Being free to be able to make your own choices for your own happiness beats being cheated on, lied to, & disrespected any day".

Melisa - Russell's wife of 1 year - posted a pic on Instagram Wednesday hinting the couple had split due to infidelity. He's back. We'll utilize him as normal. "Obviously, we have to do what's best for the team in the long run".

Russell's teammates are in a bind. Fans outside Wrigley said they're holding off on judgement for now.

"This is what I do, this is what I love", Russell said. "I love being here, in this clubhouse, with the guys having fun".

This is obviously a tough situation to even think about. "None of us here really know much about it".

Before the social media-induced storm Wednesday night, Russell had spent the last week-and-a-half as part of a timeshare with Javy Baez at shortstop.
