Police Identify Two London Attackers

Khuram Shazad Butt, 27, was a British citizen who was born in Pakistan.

Butt had been a key player in terrorist group al-Muhajiroun since at least 2009 and had been mentioned in an Federal Bureau of Investigation report in 2015, the paper reported.

Dick said police had seized "a huge amount of forensic material" after going through the van used in the attack "very very carefully".

London Bridge terrorist Khuram Butt quoted the Quran in his final message before carrying out the deadly attack.

A new search was underway today in a neighbourhood near the home of two of the London Bridge attackers, hours after police said they had freed everyone detained in the wake of the rampage that left seven dead and dozens wounded.

All three perpetrators were confronted and shot dead by armed officers within eight minutes of the first emergency call.

"Work is ongoing to understand more about them, their connections and whether they were assisted or supported by anyone else", Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Mark Rowley said in a statement.

The Met Police late Tuesday morning named Youssef Zaghba as the third attacker.

Earlier yesterday, a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of terrorism-related offences after a raid in Ilford, in east London, which has emerged as the apparent hub for the attack plot. He was not on the radar of police or intelligence agencies before the attack.

According to authorities, Butt, Redouane and a third man drove a white van into pedestrians on London Bridge about 10:10 p.m. local time Saturday.

Thirty-year-old Rachid Redouane claimed to be Moroccan-Libyan, and Irish security forces confirmed he had married a British woman in 2012.

A second source said Italian authorities had flagged him up to British authorities after he moved to England previous year.

Earlier, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera had reported that Zaghba had been stopped at an Italian airport because authorities believed he was on his way to Syria, and that Italian officials had warned British counterparts about him.
