Madras High Court had ruled an interim order that stops CBSE from evaluating answer sheets, publishing answer keys, and declaring the result of National Eligibility and Entrance Test until June 12, 2017.
The Madras High Court questioned the CBSE why the NEET 2017 exam could not be completed immediately after the plus 2 exams.
Mentioning the matter before a vacation bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and Deepak Gupta, Additional Solicitor General Maninder Singh said the schedule for counselling and admission had gone "haywire" because of the Madras high court order. It further stated that the future of 11 lakh students would be hang in balance if the results are not allowed to get declared. The fact remains, that date can only be decided once court clears up matters.
The High Court order came after certain students and their parents contended that NEET 2017 was not uniform since questions asked in different sets of question papers in different languages were not the same.
Around 10.5 lakh students have given the exam in either Hindi or English while around 1.25 lakh to 1.50 lakh students have appeared in eight vernacular languages.

The CBSE said that it had different question papers to prevent possible leakage of the paper resulting in cancellation of the entire NEET.
Petitioners alleged that the NEET question paper for medical and dental courses in some vernacular languages paper presented a different set of questions.
Singh said challenge to the different sets of questions in vernacular languages were on wrong assumptions that they were hard as the experts had examined that they were different from those in English or Hindi medium but the level of difficulty can not be said to be different.
If there was a paper leak of paper in other languages, then the question has been raised that whether re-test should be for 9.25% or for all?
