Antonio Conte defended Victor Moses as "an honest player" who would not try to cheat a referee after the Nigeria worldwide was shown a second yellow card for diving in Chelsea's 2-1 defeat against Arsenal in Saturday's FA Cup final at Wembley.
Now, the manager says the saga is nearing its conclusion and, now that he has led Arsenal to the FA Cup trophy, he has the proof of his commitment to remain at the club.
But they finished on a high with the unexpected 2-1 win against Chelsea on Saturday, which completed a run of nine victories in 10 games after Wenger switched formation to accommodate a back three.
Diego Costa equalised for Chelsea late in the second half, after Chelsea had lost Victor Moses to a second yellow card for diving, but Wenger's men had the flawless response as Aaron Ramsey bagged the winner three minutes later.
"We had outstanding performances", Wenger said.
"Throughout the whole season it's a big ask but it's one that we need to be up for and I think the teams in the league have been as strong as I have seen them right down the division, and that obviously makes it harder. They are in a good way, they showed strength and unity and we played spectacular football".
Wenger was ebullient about his side whose vibrant performance to outplay the Premier League champions he described as one of the proudest moments of his long career.
