No smoking gun, but James Comey shows he's a straight shooter

Now, it's imperative that Trump's new pick to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation - announced by tweet on the eve of Comey's testimony - like his predecessor resolutely reject any presidential request for "loyalty".

"In his written opening statement, Comey recounted how at a White House dinner in January shortly after Trump assumed power, the president told him, "'I need loyalty, I expect loyalty.' I didn't move, speak or change my facial expression in any way during the awkward silence that followed.

Florida U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, one of Donald Trump's harshest critics when they vied for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, pursued questions helpful to President Trump when he queried fired FBI Director James Comey at a hearing Thursday. President Trump said, "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go".

Kasowitz says Trump's team will "leave it the appropriate authorities" to determine whether the leak should be investigated.

"Today, former FBI Director James Comey testified that the President of the United States demanded his loyalty, and directed him to drop a criminal investigation into his former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn".

'There have been, and continue to be, those in government who are actively attempting to undermine this administration with selective and illegal leaks of classified information and privileged communications, ' Mr Kasowitz said.

"Mr. Comey has now admitted that he is one of these leakers", he said.

Legal experts told VICE News that Trump's repeated private conversations with Comey, where he allegedly asked the FBI chief to end the investigation into Mike Flynn and to "lift the cloud" of the Russian Federation probe, may amount to obstruction of justice. However, Americans must be assured that his law firm's ties to Russian Federation - via its clients - will cast no shadow whatsoever on the FBI's investigation. "What came to my mind was 'Be careful what you say, ' and so I said I agree Flynn is a good guy".

London Bridge Attack CCTV Shows Armed Officers Gun Down Assailants
Frenchman Alexandre Pigeard, 26, was living and working in the capital and was one of eight people killed in the atrocity. On the night of the attack, staff pretended to lock the doors in a move that was thought to protect 20 customers inside.

A reporter asked Trump for reaction to Comey's testimony but the president declined, according to a White House pool report. "If the election were on October 27, I would be your president", Clinton said last month.

"I don't know. That's Bob Mueller's job to sort that out", Comey responded, referring to the newly appointed special counsel who has taken over the Justice Department's Russian Federation investigation. Trump eluded to the possible existence of such tapes in a Twitter message after firing Comey last month.

The Senate Democratic leader said if Trump wants to refute Comey's account of their meetings, the president should release any tapes of his conversations with Comey. "Those were lies, plain and simple", Comey said.

Comey replied, "You will always get honesty from me".

The Senate Intelligence Committee hearing should have ended there, 20 minutes into Comey answering Chairman Senator Richard Burr's questions.

But I am positing that Trump is a person with no ethical standards who openly describes himself as "greedy", and that Flynn is a person who has shown a willingness to take personal payments from hostile and quasi-hostile foreign powers and then act in his official capacities to benefit those foreign powers.

It's also worth noting that Trump tweeted and talked publicly about his conversations with Comey before the memos were reported by the New York Times.

"I was honestly concerned that he might lie about the nature of our meeting, and so I thought it really important to document", Comey explained.
