The Warriors roared back against the Cleveland Cavs in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, ending with an 11-0 run in the last three minutes of the game.
Some say it just isn't fair that a 73-win team a year ago that fell a win shy of back-to-back National Basketball Association championships should be able to add the former MVP to the mix, but not James, even though Durant is a big reason why he finds himself in an 0-3 hole and in danger of being swept in The Finals for a second time.
Durant said Thursday "I know it was an exciting game last night for the fans, for people to see but as a player you are just trying to stay in the moment".
Perhaps the best way to appreciate what the Warriors have done through the first three games of the series is to look not at the gaudy statistics they've put up, but at what the Cavs have done while losing.
James joined forced with All-Star Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami to win titles.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who played for a couple dynasties himself with the Chicago Bulls and Spurs, was on the 72-win Chicago team in 1996 that built a 3-0 lead over the Seattle SuperSonics in the Finals.
It was a stunning display of offensive pyrotechnics that dovetailed with the Cavaliers' late-game collapse, a disheartening result that nearly felt unfair, unjust and undeserved.

Other fans will argue that DC doesn't want to make it appear that they are copying Marvel's cinematic universe formula. When Gal Gadot was cast as WONDER WOMAN there was a lot of backlash all over the world, and this site was not immune.
The Cavaliers are no match for these Warriors, not even with arguably the best player on the planet in LeBron James.
While some try to draw parallels to James' moves and Durant's, the 4-time NBA MVP and 3-time Finals MVP is quick to point out the difference, and to him it's a big one.
Cleveland led for most of the second half and looked ready to hand the Warriors their first loss of the play-offs. "This has been the best team in our league the last three years". They just needed him to get over the finals hump and hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy. They won a championship, and previous year it was the greatest regular-season team we had played, probably one of the best postseason teams that everybody's ever seen as well, but we were just able to overcome that. A new arena is being built for the team, which starts play in November. "And just we obviously - we want 16 wins; it doesn't matter how we get there".
And James has once again been criticized for not being more aggressive late in Game 3, when he made a pass to Kyle Korver.
Then he added another thought: "Oh yeah, we comin' back. I did not tweet that", Smith told Cleveland.com after the game.
James broke down the play, highlighting every detail - Green with five fouls, Durant collapsing, Curry guarding Kevin Love and Korver being open in the short corner - before delivering his own counter punch.
"I would do the same exact thing", he said.
