Fans of homes designed by America's best known architect are celebrating Frank Lloyd Wright's birthday. More than anything else, a statement from MoMA reads, "the exhibition seeks to open up Wright's work to critical inquiry and debate, and to introduce experts and general audiences alike to new angles and interpretations of this extraordinary architect". The house is a swirling composition of concrete blocks arranged in circular forms-David Wright was in the concrete-block business, and his father combined his son's preferred material with his own late-career obsession with ramps and curving shapes, which would culminate in the Guggenheim Museum in NY.
David Wright lived at the home until he died in 1997 at the age of 102.
The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation plans to honor the 150th anniversary of the architect on June 8th. We also hear from scholar Kathryn Smith about how Wright's vision continues to influence designers and architects today.
He had plans to restore it and turn it into a museum, but neighbors complained doing so would generate excessive traffic in the well-heeled residential Arcadia area where the house is located.
Israel 'not ready' for peace
It found itself ruling more than a million Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, and the occupation fueled violent resistance. Netanyahu made the comments at a ceremony to mark 50 years since the outbreak of the 1967 Six-Day War.
Rawling said the donation is contingent on that organization raising a $7 million endowment for the school by 2020.
They'll work on projects like correcting leaks in the ceiling and corrosion in some metal work. Rawling restored the house and then made a decision to give it to the school.
Visitors will be allowed when the school holds educational tours and lectures.
