Armed police evacuated people from London's Trafalgar Square on Thursday after finding a "suspicious item". The package was reportedly found on Duncannon Street, which connects the busy central London train terminus with Trafalgar Square.
Officers confirmed they received a call alerting them to the package at 2.40pm.
Commenting on developments, a spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: "Specialist officers are in attendance and cordons are in place".

The popular tourist destination has been cordoned off with Charing Cross Tube Station also closed.
While the force later tweeted: 'The incident in Charing Cross has now been stood down.
Trafalgar Square's evacuation produced some eerie images and footage of a deserted square.
