Couple had a drink and drug-fuelled argument during which Woodward had punched and swiped at her boyfriend's leg.

The court heard she also punched him in the face and hurled a laptop, glass and jam jar at him during the row in September 2016.

Miss Woodward, who admitted wounding, flew to Barbados after the hearing.

Judge Ian Pringle, QC, said at Oxford crown court that the offence would normally mean a custodial sentence, but he delayed sentencing for four...

Christ Church college has said it will not comment on individual students but the court was told Ms Woodward will be allowed her to return to the college in October to continue her studies.

She has published articles in medical journals and will be returning to Oxford's historic Christ Church college in the next academic year after the college agreed to allow the 'gifted' student to return.

"What you did; I know, will never leave you", Judge Pringle provided, "but it was pretty very bad, and normally it would attract a custodial sentence, whether it is immediate or suspended".

Healthy teen dies of heart problems after too much caffeine
According to the experts, it caused an arrhythmia and caused a heart attack, which led to the death of a young man. The FDA says 600 milligrams of caffeine or more, that's about seven cups of coffee, is too much.

Prosecutor Cathy Olliver said Woodward met her ex on Tinder and at the time of the attack, September 30, her behaviour "deteriorated".

"The judge must take into account determination or demonstration of steps to address addiction, so it sounds as though he's giving her a chance and I think the judge would do that for anyone wherever they came from in the right circumstances".

He said: "To prevent this extraordinary, able young lady from following her long-held desire to enter the profession she wishes to would be too severe".

Defending QC James Sturman said Woodward was a drug addict and her dreams of becoming a surgeon were "almost impossible" as her conviction would have to be disclosed.

He said she had lived a troubled life and was abused by a previous boyfriend. And thus, he would make an "exceptional" decision in sentencing on Sep. 25.

The student was issued with a restraining order and told to remain drug-free.
