Trump Says He Was Always Going to Fire FBI Director

"James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!"

The White House had said Comey was sacked "based on the clear recommendations of both Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Attorney General Jeff Sessions".

The chummy photos amazed some observers, particularly coming a day after the president fired FBI director James Comey, who had been running the investigation into whether the Trump campaign co-ordinated with Russian officials.

Trump also revealed that he had the Russian Federation investigation in mind when he fired Comey.

In a series of early morning tweets, Trump assailed critics and the media over their response to Comey's ouster, and threatened to cancel daily news briefings at the White House. It said that Trump knew Comey was not up to the task so he chose to replace him with someone who could bring credibility back to the investigative agency. "It's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should've won", Trump said.

"Look, I think it was something that was far above my pay grade, was made a decision to be included, and again, I'm not going to get into the specifics of that", she said, before abruptly ending the presser and walking away from the podium.

(Sessions broke his promise to recuse himself from any Trump campaign-Russia investigations.) But just before the White House news conference on Thursday, Trump did an interview with NBC where he insisted he had made a decision to fire Comey on his own. "The American people deserve to know why Director Comey was sacked without reason and Donald Trump needs to explain himself immediately". "Some photographs are distributed by TASS as with any other news agency", he said, adding that there was nothing unusual about the photoshoot with Trump and Lavrov. During one of the most important national security investigations of our time, Director Comey's firing is a blatant attack on the independence of the Justice Department.

Indeed, it is only by virtue of Falcinelli’s prowess in the final third that Crotone still remains in contention to survive. In Romelu Lukaku, Koeman has a player with the capability of firing Everton to far headier heights than seventh place.

Trump said that he was anxious for the results of the FBI investigation into Russia's efforts to disrupt the election. The president then turned the conversation to whether Mr. Comey would pledge his loyalty to him. Comey said that he responded, "Yes, you will have that". Maybe I'll expand that, you know, lengthen the time [of the Russian Federation probe] because it should be over with, in my opinion, should have been over with a long time ago.

The story was described to the NYT by several individuals close to Comey, to whom he relayed the details on the condition they not discuss the dinner publicly while he was still Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

"This Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story".

Shortly before his call for peace Trump sent another Twitter missive: "Russia must be laughing up their sleeves watching as the United States tears itself apart over a Democrat EXCUSE for losing the election". The probe is ongoing.

The Trump White House, not surprisingly, is denying that this happened. "Now what do I ... should I say no I'm not gonna see him?"

Trump insisted he never pressured Comey to drop the Russia-related FBI investigation.
