India will be taking on Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa on 4th June, 8th June and 11th June respectively.

Shami takes the place of leg-spinner Amit Mishra while Sharma replaces Lokesh Rahul, who is recuperating from shoulder surgery.

While Rohit sustained a thigh injury during the One Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand in October past year Shami's last appearance in ODIs was in the 2015 World Cup semi-finals.

"Two years is a long time". In these two years, I have focussed on my strength and fitness.

Other pacers in the team are Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah.

"I think we have a very good pace attack for the Champions Trophy".

Meanwhile, after missing the April 25 deadline, the Indian board finally announced the squad ending speculations of pulling out of the tournament.

Amidst speculations that BCCI might pull out of the tournament, the Board made a decision to send its team during the Special General Meeting held yesterday.

North Korea Accuses U.S. Of Attempting To Assassinate Kim Jong
The US has sent a warship to the region and installed a controversial anti-missile defence system in South Korea. North Korea warned that United States hostility brought the region to the brink of nuclear war.

The BCCI is furious at the ICC for amending its rules to divert power and money away from cricket's major powers: India, England and Australia.

India are now the defending champions.

"The board unanimously authorized the acting Honorary Secretary of the BCCI to continue negotiations with the ICC in the best interest of the BCCI while keeping its legal options open", said the statement on Sunday.

Still, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik were placed on standby along with batsman Suresh Raina, left-arm wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav and fast bowler Shardul Thakur. "Looking forward to Champions Trophy", he said. "We will groom him for the future".

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who has skipped the IPL owing to a sports hernia injury, has been included.

Explaining the decision, Prasad said Ashwin's injury was not that serious and he merely required some rest. "In fact his franchise has been magnanimous to accept our request of resting him", said Prasad.

The Champions Trophy will be played between June 1 and June 18 this year at The Oval in London, Sophia Gardens in Cardiff and Edgbaston in Birmingham. Former skipper MS Dhoni is the only specialist wicketkeeper in the squad.

The 15 man side includes: Virat (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Rahane, Dhoni (wk), Yuvraj Singh Kedar Jadav, Hardik Pandya, Ashwin, Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Bumrah and Manish Pandya. We have to work together and help each other in the team. "When it comes to crunch situation, his input. I want to give my best shot", Shami said after being named in the Champions Trophy squad.
