In the first public appearance by a senior FBI official since President Donald Trump's shocking dismissal of James Comey, Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe vowed to not provide the White House with updates on its investigation into any connection between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.
Two days after Donald Trump mysteriously fired James Comey, 56, amidst the investigation into Russian Federation, two Washington officials surfaced as his temporary replacement - U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and of course Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, 49.
Senator Mark Warner, the Democratic committee vice chairman, said he was "offended" by Mr Trump's comment that Mr Comey was a "showboater".
Feinstein then said after Grassley's statement, "I very much appreciate what you've said and it's very accurate, and we were briefed".
"I don't think I'm in a position to comment on that".
In public testimony Thursday, the acting Federal Bureau of Investigation director, Andrew McCabe, contradicted White House statements about why Comey was dismissed, particularly the assertion that Comey had lost the confidence of the organization. "I said, 'If it's possible would you let me know am I under investigation?'" Trump said, recounting one of three conversations about the issue - two over the phone and one over dinner. The speaker says the investigation involves deeply classified intelligence collection and should not be turned over to independent investigators.

Every day should be treated as Mother's Day
Mom's love for Dad was just as great a resolve for him, and remained steady even after his death. In the United States, celebration of Mother's Day began in the early 20th century.
Importantly, it was Rod Rosenstein, the nation's longest-serving US attorney who was confirmed as deputy attorney-general on April 25 by the Senate on a 94-6 vote, not a partisan political operative, who recommended Comey's firing.
Trump said he has told the Navy to return to decades-old steam-powered catapult technology to launch aircraft from the new Gerald Ford-class aircraft carriers, rather than use a new digital launch system.
"I said, 'You don't use steam anymore for catapult?' 'No sir.' I said, 'Ah, how is it working?' 'Sir, not good".
Donald Trump said Thursday he asked his now-fired FBI director on three occasions whether he was the target of ongoing investigations, stoking allegations of presidential interference.
Holt pushed back, noting that in the letter to Comey, Trump wrote that he was acting on a recommendation from Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Rosenstein.
The White House appeared caught off guard by the intense response to Comey's firing, given that the FBI director had become a pariah among Democrats for his role in the Clinton investigation. "The American people deserve to know if senior government officials are under active criminal or intelligence investigation", Grassley said.
Suggesting that the president fired Comey out of fear or retribution for being under investigation is a wild leap.
