Canelo Alvarez announces September fight with GGG

They lose a fight like that, they're young, they're undefeated, their feelings get hurt because they got schooled, they didn't win a round. The two will square off on September 16, Mexican Independence Day. Chavez' left eye was a swollen shut late in the fight thanks to that precise overhand right from Alvarez, who coasted to an easy shutout win.

There was no title on the line Saturday as Alvarez moved up in weight to fight the much bigger Chavez at a catchweight of 164lbs.

Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) now holds the unified World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and International Boxing Organization (IBO) middleweight titles.

"If they're doubling and tripling you, you force the other guys on your team to play hard".

Promoters of Alvarez and Golovkin were present during the Alvarez-Chavez fight at the T. Mobile Arena and right after Alvarez' shutout victory over Chavez, they officially announced the holding of the fight on September 16, 2017.

Still to be determined is the venue, and De La Hoya insisted it could be "anywhere in the world". Las Vegas again will be a frontrunner to land the plum gig, but don't discount Jerry's World - the Dallas Cowboys' home stadium in Arlington, Texas - or maybe the Staples Center in Los Angeles or even a site in New York City. Surprisingly, De La Hoya says that all went well. The one loss Alvarez has suffered in his career was to Floyd Mayweather Jr. back in September of 2013. Chavez has had trouble making weight in the past few years, but he did manage to make weight for the bout.

Alvarez had a 228-71 edge in punches landed against Chavez, and an 83-15 advantage in jabs landed, according to CompuBox.

Kazakh Golovkin was ringside as Alvarez won 120-108 on all three scorecards.

WGA Strike Has Been Averted So TV is Safe for Now
Variety said negotiations between the two sides began March 13 and stalled twice before Tuesday's agreement. More details will be released after the WGA officially ratifies the agreement.

Immediately after Michael Buffer announced the results, Alvarez told the crowd that Golovkin was next. And then, like an episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, Golovkin made his way to the ring. They later showed a promotional video for the fight.

The 26-year-old now lays claim to victories over Chavez Jr., Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto and Amir Khan, but the biggest crack of his quickly expanding legacy has been his reluctance to fight Golovkin. But all those were forgotten after the mega fight announcement.

Alvarez's dominance leaves him confident about facing bigger boxers. And after seeing GGG fail to earn the knockout against his last opponent, Daniel Jacobs, de la Hoya definitely considered this the flawless time to book the fight.

"GGG, you are next my friend".

After the battle Alvarez-Chavez came out to the ring king of the Middleweight Gennady Golovkin to officially confirm the fight with Soulem.

Below is all you need to know to watch the card on television and online, as well as a full fight card for the event out of T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Abel Sanchez respectfully sent a message to Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya early Sunday morning.
