An arrest affidavit says the University of Texas student accused of stabbing four students, one fatally, told police he didn't remember attacking anyone.
UT Police Chief, David Carter, identified the suspected assailant as UT student Kendrex J. White, a biology major from Killeen, Texas.
Chis Crawford, a senior in White's college said that he worked with White at Real Role Models, an organization where students provide service & mentorship.
Over the past several months, fliers and vandalism targeting different groups have appeared on the University of Texas campus. "This was not about a person who had a vendetta". He also added that the stabbing attack does not appear to be part of a larger assault. "There is no immediate threat at this time", they said. Within two hours of the attack, UT officials canceled all classes and all remaining events for the day, turning the crowded campus into a relative ghost town. After he left there, he kicked a woman as if to get her out of his way, the police chief said. The attack took place Monday afternoon in front of the Gregory Gym on campus.
Another male student was stabbed while waiting in line at a food truck before White stabbed a fourth victim.
"While I was running away, I saw this other guy that was kind of bloodied up sitting at a table slumped over". He was "an inspiration to everyone around him", the district said in a statement.
"Police were resuscitating a victim".
The dead student was identified as Harrison Brown, who was a member of graduating class of 2016 at Graham High School in Graham, Texas.
UNESCO passes Jerusalem resolution critical of Israel
Those who voted against were the U.S., U.K., Germany, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Togo, Paraguay, Greece, Lithuania and Italy. Prime Minister Netanyahu said that the slimmer vote margin was evidence that global pressure on Israel is ebbing.
Arredondo said he emerged from the building where he was hiding to see a police officer tending to one man being given CPR.
The officer confronted the man, Carter said, drawing his weapon and ordering the man to the ground.
"I pulled it out not realizing it was a knife", he said. In less than two minutes, an officer was on scene. A woman who answered the phone at the home hung up when she was told she was speaking with a reporter. UT-Austin President Greg Fenves said he spoke with Brown's mother and brother on Tuesday.
Since Weiser's murder, numerous safety and security changes were implemented on campus, but Fenves says more can be done.
"Many students and parents are frustrated with how long the university took to notify them of today's attack", the university's president, Gregory L. Fenves, wrote in a message late Monday.
"This is something that obviously rattles any community, and certainly a college campus community like ours. That fear is very understandable, especially in light of recent vandalism and threats against students", he said.
A student who said he knows White socially, William Verastegui, said the suspect had always seemed friendly.
