- Bernie Sanders (@SenSanders) May 5, 2017Yes, Mr. Trump, the Australian health care system is a lot better than ours and infinitely better than the disastrous bill you supported. "We have a failing health care - I shouldn't say this to our great gentleman and my friend from Australia because you have better health care than we do".
One is that Australia has a universal health-care system.
Ms Huckabee Sanders said Mr Trump's remarks did not mean he thought the United States should adopt a similar system to Australia's.
Australia's government provides nationalized health care, and the country spends about half as much as the USA does to provide it.
"I think he believes that they have a good healthcare system for Australia. You guys exaggerated that call", the business mogul said of the media during a meeting with Turnbull, 62, aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.
"The two presidents are obviously very different men", Turnbull told reporters on Friday just before flying back to Australia.
Of course, the truth is, Trump doesn't really know what the American model is, how the Australian system works, or the benefits of either.
Seconds later, Trump added that the call did, in fact, "get a little bit testy".
We had a great call.
White House Postpones Paris Climate Agreement Meeting-Again
Today, White House advisors postponed a "key meeting " to discuss America's involvement in the Paris Agreement, Politico reports. He will make a decision when he returns from the G7 summit in Italy, not prior to that, as originally planned.
Trump spent just a few hours in his New York City hometown Thursday, but avoided his Trump Tower home, where security has been tightened and the costs for it have mounted since he became president.
Trump's showering of praise came in stark contrast to what was reportedly a verbal spat between the two leaders over accepting refugees.
But the White House has since clarified those comments, saying the US President was simply saying nice things to an ally and did not think his country should adopt a similar approach.
His wife, First Lady Melania Trump, was now staying at Trump Tower in NY, until the end of the school year for their son, Barron, before settling permanently in the White House in Washington D.C.
"Wait a minute", Sanders said as he erupted in laughter.
The agreement was a source of friction when Trump and Turnbull spoke by telephone shortly after Trump took office January 20.
His comment is attracting attention because Australia offers universal health care, which Republicans oppose.
Regardless, Trump is correct that the US lags behind other countries in health care service among industrialized nations.
Observers also say Australia is also concerned about how the Trump administration's America-first trade policy might affect economic relations.
