Of all the goals, Ovechkin's was probably the least important to the outcome, but possibly most vital to the Capitals' chances of rallying to win this series.
A few minutes into the third period, the players made their home rink very, very loud.
Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin scored 27 seconds apart in the third period as the host Washington Capitals avoided elimination by beating the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 in Game 5 on Saturday night.
Senators 5, Rangers 4 • Kyle Turris scored 6:28 into overtime to lift host Ottawa over NY for a 3-2 series lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Erik Karlsson had three assists. "FLEU-RY!" and might've planted enough of a seed of belief for the Washington Capitals against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Maybe not exactly in such a fashion, with the Capitals firing home three goals in five minutes in the third period to stave off elimination, but certainly one where the Washington offense broke through and powered a victory. Ovechkin has played for five coaches, for two general managers, with all different sorts of supporting casts, in all sorts of different styles. "I think there's a growth pattern where you're a player that you want to have good stats or you want to be successful, and then there's a period of time where you're under the radar a little bit and you still want to be under the radar".
Ottawa trailed 2-0 less than 5 1/2 minutes into the game, before scoring three times to take the lead midway through the second period.
While Fleury struggled for the first time against the Capitals, Vezina Trophy finalist Braden Holtby had his best game of the series, stopping 20 shots.
That's Ovechkin's second goal of this series. Its good that he was cleared and able to play. With the slogan "Own the big moments" a reminder of how they didn't do so a year ago in their second-round loss to the Penguins, Washington's best players came to play when the moment was its biggest. If Fleury has sprung a leak, the Capitals have the talent from Ovechkin down to make him pay. He had a hard performance in Game 4 and admitted as much afterwards. So he can't do that this whole series.
Trotz said he believes Fleury will continue to play well, and Penguins coach Mike Sullivan had no issues with the veteran's showing in Game 5. "I thought he was huge". He still made 60 saves as the Ducks pelted the Oilers netminder. The good thing is, they know they can do it.
"I think none of us were proud of last game". Not to mention the other notable Capitals: Kevin Shattenkirk has had a miserable playoffs, Andre Burakovsky went silent for four games, and T.J.
Warm weather and low energy prices hurt Centrica's margins
Centrica said that it is "well-positioned" to deal with whatever form of market change is ultimately enacted. On May 3 Centrica announced a GBP60 million investment in its offshore operations in Morecambe Bay.
"It doesn't matter, leaders or not leaders, top six, bottom six", said Evgeny Kuznetsov, who scored the Game 5 victor. "He is who he is for a reason, and he plays a full 200-foot game and that would help us all over the ice".
Despite dominating play, Washington had come up empty handed in three of the first four games against Pittsburgh.
"You think I ever feel tight?"
"We had our chances to build on that (2-1) lead and we didn't", said Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby, who, along with Conor Sheary, returned just five days after suffering a concussion.
"I think it's just confidence really", Orpik said. "There were some chances there".
"When I talked to Alex, I told him we needed to change it up". The Capitals won 4-2. Were going to have to be the best team in the league if were going to win this series.
SUCCESS IN SMASHVILLE: A 3-1 victory in Game 6 Sunday over the St. Louis Blues put the Nashville Predators in the Western Conference final for the first time in their 18-year franchise history.
The Washington Capitals must come out ready to destroy the Penguins in Game 6.
