Officials did not announce a venue for Coulter's speech, but university spokesman Dan Mogulof said it would be "somewhere on campus property" and that details will be announced when they are worked out with Coulter and the Berkeley College Republicans, the group that, along with BridgeUSA, invited her.
Brown of YAF wrote that the university had initially imposed "a series of ridiculous requirements" on Coulter's speech, including that she speak in the afternoon, and that organizers limit the audience to students and delay the announcement of the venue until close to the event time. In its letter, university officials also partly blamed the college Republican group for inviting Coulter and setting a date for the event - April 27 - without consulting the university.
"Why she sees those as demands we're uncertain, because they were simply the recommendations we received from our police department about what would be required to protect her and, most importantly, to maximize the chances that the event could be held successfully and safely", Mogulof explained.
However, Coulter isn't cool with the change and still plans to appear at Berkeley on April 27, the Washington Post reported. "Maybe they will arrest me", she said in an email to Reuters.
"We have no intention of acceding to these unconstitutional acts", the Young America's Foundation said in a statement. They threatened legal action, saying the school's actions violate "fundamental principles of free speech, equal protection and due process". "But we're just canceling her anyway".
Ann Coulter's far-right political leanings are a subject of frequent and heated debates.
Berkeley police had informed the administration that the same groups were planning to target the Coulter event, prompting university officials to cancel it.
'20 Weeks': Serena Williams Hints at Pregnancy on Snapchat
What's more, Williams has been forced to take extended breaks from the tour before, most notably after winning Wimbledon in 2010. It also confirms that if she is really 20 weeks along RN, she won the latest Australian Open while about two months pregnant.
The violence that erupted after Yiannopoulos was invited on campus prompted campus officials to cancel his speech last-minute as protesters smashed windows, set fires and clashed with police. "Even after Coulter went along with their ruses and guises to shut down her speech, they simply announced, like Kim Jung Un, that it was cancelled".
"I'm definitely giving the speech", she continued.
After massive publicity, they reversed course but reset the event for May 2, when students will be taking finals and therefore will be less likely to attend, according to lawyers representing the Berkeley College Republicans and Young America's Foundation.
Berkeley's sudden decision came amid the rising violence regarding the cancelation of speeches of conservative speakers at the university.
In its letter, the university said the students and officials could work together to reschedule the event for a later date.
Coulter agreed to these terms then made her own requests. A free speech rally was scheduled on March 4 in response, and that, too, became violent.
