A day earlier, Younis had said he might not end his 17-year worldwide career along with his captain Misbah-ul-Haq at the conclusion of the West Indies tour, if his team asked him to play on, but later clarified that this this would be his last.
A Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016 file photo of Pakistan's Younis Khan playing a reverse sweep shot as Australia's wicket keeper Matthew Wade looks on during play on day four of the first cricket test between Australia and Pakistan in Brisbane, Australia. Khan told in the message that his statement was misrepresented as he did not hint at taking any U-turn regarding the retirement decision.
It is the 50th test match between the two countries, but Pakistan has never won a test series in the West Indies. In contrast, Azam displayed much more aggression and objective although he once again fell short of a maiden Test century. West Indies fielded two debutants - Vishaul Singh and Shimron Hetmyer - while the visitors handed Abbas his maiden Test cap.
"The question that was asked to me, what my answer was and what version went out, I don't want to go in detail".
"I will be retiring".
Less than four years on from the two-Test series they played in India - more famous for being Sachin Tendulkar's last series than anything else - Pakistan's Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan have decided they, too, will bid farewell to global cricket once the upcoming three Tests against Jason Holder's men are concluded.
Lawyers want Aaron Hernandez's murder conviction dismissed

His career batting average of 53.02 is also the best by any Pakistani batsman and the third best by any batsman from Asia.
"Even though we have some very good youngsters in the team, the gap left by Younis' absence will be hard to fill", he added. The Pakistan team will not just miss him as a batsman, they'll also miss him as a mentor.
Playing his final Test series against West Indies in the Caribbean, Younis became the first player from Pakistan to touch the 10,000-run mark in Tests and 12th overall across all nations. He has changed our dressing room culture.
"Every member of this team, including myself, has learnt a lot from him. If one wants to be successful in professional life, one only needs to regard Younus Khan's organised and punctual lifestyle from breakfast to bed".
Younis scored a hundred on his test debut against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi in 2000 and since then has scored 34 centuries and 32 half centuries.
