Adrian Peterson Agrees To Two-Year Deal With Saints

"Adrian to me is, since I've been here, the greatest Minnesota Viking to ever put on that uniform", said Spielman, who arrived in Minnesota in 2006, the year before Peterson. NFL.com is now reporting that the Saints are nearing a deal that would pay the running back $3 million for 2017. The deal, Anderson says, is for two years and it's worth around $7 million in base value.

A seven-time Pro Bowler, four-time All-Pro and the 2012 NFL Most Valuable Player, Peterson isn't too far removed from the league-leading 1,485 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns he posted in 2015, but a year ago was marked by knee injury.

Peterson, 6-1, 220, is a 10-year NFL veteran, who captured the NFL MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the year in 2012, is a four-time Associated Press first-team All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl selection.

"I am excited to be joining the New Orleans Saints", Peterson told ESPN's Josina Anderson. Adrian Peterson added that he also discussed things with his wife and family, the decision of which was to support the running back's move to the Saints.

"On offense, it goes without saying that the Saints are really solid behind (quarterback) Drew Brees".

Aaron Hernandez feared being outed as gay
MA prison officials said Hernandez hanged himself in his cell and pronounced dead at a hospital early Wednesday, April 19, 2017. In April 2015, Hernandez was convicted for shooting and killing Lloyd, a semi-professional football player, on June 17, 2013.

The Vikings decided not to exercise a one-year option on Peterson's contract, which would have valued the 32-year-old at $18m for the 2017 season.

Peterson himself isn't going to propel New Orleans to the playoffs. He holds the single game rushing record with 296 yards (against San Diego in 2007), is the Vikings all-time rushing leader - 16th in National Football League history, and holds the Vikings record for most rushing touchdowns.

Peterson will get an immediate opportunity to face the Vikings.

Peterson, too, has a history of contributing as a passing target out of the backfield, surpassing 200 yards receiving in a season five times, including 436 yards in 2009. But he also played only three games last season because of knee and groin injuries.

Either way, if the Saints start trending up next season, Dallas should tell New Orleans "you're welcome".
