In his first major social event as president, Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump hosted the 139th annual Easter Egg Roll on the White House's South Lawn on Sunday.
"We're going to come out and join you... for a great Easter egg roll", the president continued.
The first family joined their guests on the South Lawn, as President Donald Trump, along with First Lady Melania, colored with kids as part of some of the day's activities.
Mr Trump takes it, signs it with a marker, and tosses it into the crowd, rather than hand it straight back to the child. Melania tweeted Friday before the event.
President Trump defended his record in office, saying "we are right on track".
Then, in his Easter speech to children and their families, he stood next to an Easter Bunny saying: "We will be stronger and bigger and better as a nation than ever before".

The children receive wooden eggs inscribed with signatures of the president and first lady.
With Trump's relationship with the public already in question, the Easter Egg Roll would prove as an opportunity to convince other's that he is one with the American people. "We're going to have a lot of people and their going to have a great time". They also visited various stations around the event, which include a reading nook, a cookie-decorating station, an egg-dying station, an art wall, and a table where guests can write notes to military troops and veterans. "I've seen those kids, and they're highly, highly competitive".
"This is the 139th Easter Egg Roll".
Melissa McCarthy returned to "Saturday Night Live" as Spicer on Saturday, this time dressed as the Easter bunny, mocking his recent flubs (and that time Spicer dressed up as the furry white animal).
The Trumps, along with their son Barron, watched the Easter Egg Roll, with the president blowing the opening whistle.
Trump was accompanied by his wife, Melania, and 11-year-old son Barron.
