Former Patriots star Aaron Hernandez had the words "John 3:16" written on his forehead when his body was found in his prison cell Wednesday morning, WBZ reports.
Convicted murderer and former National Football League star Aaron Hernandez was found hanged in his MA prison cell April 19th, 2017, officials said, just days after he was acquitted in a separate murder case. Per the report, Hernandez had given "most of his personal belongings to fellow inmates and covered the floor of his cell in soap", so that he wouldn't be able to save himself if he made a decision to abort the hanging.
Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez has filed a motion in Bristol Superior Court to request that a judge formally order the Department of Correction to preserve evidence related to Hernandez's death.
Officials also announced on Thursday that three handwritten notes were found next to a bible in Hernandez's cell. It asks that prison officials be barred from altering or destroying any potential evidence, including Hernandez's writings, video and audio recordings and medical records.
"The preservation of evidence regarding the circumstances of Aaron Hernandez's death is crucial to a full, complete, and transparent investigation", lawyer George Leontire wrote in court papers.
Attorney Jose Baez, who successfully defended Hernandez in his most recent trial, on Thursday said that the state's Chief Medical Examiner's Office had turned over Hernandez' remains to his family but retained his brain.

According to the International Organization for Migration, almost 32,000 asylum seekers arrived in Europe by sea so far this year. Where are @Frontex boats in a day like this? Reuters had earlier erroneously reported that 20 people had died.
The news comes as his lawyer and family claim the MA medical examiner is "illegally" holding on to Hernandez's brain. He was serving life for the 2013 first-degree murder of fellow football player Odin Lloyd.
Investigators say Hernandez blocked access to his cell from the inside by jamming cardboard into the door tracks. Here is the biblical verse: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life".
Officers immediately began to render life-saving techniques and Hernandez was taken to UMass Leominster where he was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. John Thompson said Friday he would file the necessary paperwork in Bristol County, the jurisdiction where Hernandez was tried and convicted in 2015.
Courts in MA and a number of other states customarily vacate the convictions of defendants who die before their appeals are heard. The district attorney would be able to challenge it.
All first-degree murder convictions in MA trigger an automatic appeal.
It's unclear what assets Hernandez had when he hanged himself in prison this week, and how they might be distributed.
