"Sean, you need some help?"
Gronkowski and other members of the Patriots' Super Bowl winning team were set to meet with President Trump later Wednesday to be congratulated on their February win.
Trump's welcome to the team was coming hours after the news from MA prisons officials that ex-Patriot tight end Aaron Hernandez hanged himself in his prison cell. Two players were brought to speak to reporters after the White House ceremony, but both said they had not known Hernandez.
Unlike a number of his teammates on the New England Patriots' Super Bowl championship team, his reasons apparently have nothing to do with politics.
Brady is a personal friend of Trump's, and the president often cited the quarterback while out on the campaign trail previous year. Days ago, the 27-year-old former tight end was acquitted of a double murder. The press corps burst into laughter as Spicer responded, "I think I've got this but thank you".
Edmundson, Blues take game two in Minnesota
Minnesota put 19 shots on goal in the third period, but couldn't score. "I thought they played a good game", Parise said. Vladimir Sobotka found the net in the second period and then Joel Edmundson got the game-winner just 2:12 into overtime.
Running back LeGarrette Blount and safety Devin McCourty said they wouldn't make the visit because they didn't feel welcome in the White House. Gronkowski interrupted White House press secretary Sean Spicer during his press briefing. The team has not officially commented on this development.
Numerous players said they would skip the event due to their political differences with Trump even though Brady, coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft have close ties to the president.
"He's just a very special guy", Trump said.
After the triumphant victory, tight end Martellus Bennett quickly made it clear he was not coming to the White House and other teammates followed.
The Super Bowl champions are visiting the White House to accept congratulations from President Donald Trump for another National Football League title.
