Forecasters said the depression is expected to dissipate Thursday night or early Friday.
The first tropical depression of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season formed on Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The depression had sustained winds of 35 miles per hour with higher gusts, and it was moving northwest at 14 miles per hour.
The system is running out of time to become Tropical Storm Arlene.

"It doesn't mean a thing in the world for the most part", said Max Mayfield, a former director of the National Hurricane Center and hurricane specialist for Channel 10 in Miami.
According to hurricane forecasters, the storm was 730 miles west-southwest of the Azores and was moving north at 14 mph.
The Atlantic hurricane season does not officially begin until June 1 and extends through November 30.
