Baglay said that India doesn't have any knowledge of either Jadhav's location or condition. "I would caution the Pakistan Government to consider the consequences for our bilateral relationship if they proceed on this matter", she said.

Jadhav, a 46-year-old former naval officer, has been sentenced to death for alleged "spying".

Shashi Tharoor tried to make a diplomatic point when he said that the Indian government must raise the Jadhav issue at a global forum just to shame Pakistan. He said the government of Iran was informed previous year but no information was available.

Government of Pakistan states that he is a serving commander-ranked officer in the Indian Navy who was involved in subversive activities inside Pakistan, and was arrested during a counter-intelligence operation in Balochistan.

Sena leader Manisha Kayande said that India needs to approach the United Nations and garner support from the entire world community on the Jadhav issue. "Today chief of army staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa confirmed his death sentence awarded by FGCM", the ISPR said.

Jadhav was given the death sentence by the Pakistani army during a court martial on March 10, which India has called "premeditated murder".

"We don't know where Kulbhushan Jadhav has been kept".

"We must understand Commander Jadhav had been visiting Pakistan since 2003 on an original, genuine Indian passport under a fake name of Mubarak Hussain Patel".

Sharif's statement came hours after India's External Affairs Sushma Swaraj warned Islamabad not to go ahead with the death sentence, which New Delhi would see as an act of "pre-mediated murder".

Meanwhile, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy yesterday said India must recognize Balochistan as an independent country if Pakistan executes Jadhav. "We did not change any law and neither are we victimising anyone", he said, adding that action was taken after evidence was collected and everything was done in accordance with the existing laws of the land.
