Throughout Friday's game, Braves fans filled the Battery's restaurants and more than 100 people watched the game on a video board in the Georgia Power Pavilion. The Braves authorized BRED to acquire various parcels of property to build the proposed stadium and mixed-use development.
"It definitely has its advantages in being able to care for the player better", San Diego's Andy Green said.
Bartolo Colon was having too much fun in his home debut with the Braves to be bothered by a home run in the second inning. "I walked in and first thing I thought was, oh my god, this is home", said Braves fan Joel Vrana who made the trip from Omaha.
"We love it", he said of the new park, which is about 15 minutes from the family's home when there's no traffic. While the park boasts loads of interesting dining options, miles of bathroom facilities and pretty good views from even the cheapest seat, there's nothing terribly unique about it, in his assessment.
