Antonio Conte: Was Chelsea boss subdued during Man Utd defeat?

Jesse Lingard has paid tribute to Ander Herrera after his Man of the Match display in Manchester United's 2-0 win over Chelsea, suggesting the Spaniard led by example on Sunday.

"For this reason we must have great enthusiasm to play these last six games".

United manager Jose Mourinho, who saw his side thrashed 4-0 at Chelsea in October and was branded "Judas" by fans of his old club during last month's FA Cup defeat at Stamford Bridge, played a gamble by resting 28-goal Zlatan Ibrahimovic who was available for selection.

"That game was totally controlled when we played with 11 players, and only the decision that made us play with 10 players gave Chelsea a chance to be dominant".

But in a pointed reference to Chelsea's struggles last season under Jose Mourinho, now the United manager, he said his team's quest for the title deserved to be considered a "miracle".

"They [United] showed more desire, more ambition, more motivation", he said, as reported by The Guardian. We knew we had to close them down.

"For us it is a fantastic target".

The Blues' lead over second-placed Tottenham is now down to four points with six games remaining, while United boosted their own hopes of reaching the top four by extending their unbeaten league run to 22 games.

Despite the loss, Chelsea are still favourites to lift the trophy in Conte's first season with just six games left.

United were ahead on seven minutes after Herrera had split the Chelsea defence with a flawless pass to Rashford, who swept home past Asmir Begovic.

"I don't think they could go and play like that every week against lesser teams who will sit in and not try and open up against them".

The belligerent Ander Herrera was the emblem of United's victory, marking Chelsea's key man Eden Hazard out of the game and claiming a goal and an assist at the other end.

Manchester United return to Europa League action on Thursday night when they take on Anderlecht in the return leg of their quarter-final clash at Old Trafford.

With Fabregas and Willian's introduction, Chelsea created a few chances but failed to keep them on target.

Of course, Spurs are still the one chasing and we're the one "safe", but the fact that we were unable to respond to their victory over Bournemouth really makes things lot more interesting.
