Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, right, and team mate Karim Benzema arrive for a training session prior to the Champions League quarterfinal first leg soccer match between FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, in Munich, Germany, Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

The Spain worldwide has struggled for first-team football this season and has only featured in 77 minutes of Madrid's Champions League campaign this season, despite being fully fit for the majority of the campaign.

Real Madrid leave it late for the umpteenth time this season as their bid for a first La Liga title in five years is doing nothing for their fans' finger nails.

"I am happy for him".

Isco gave one of his finest performances in a Madrid shirt on Saturday as his pair of strikes secured Madrid a 3-2 comeback victory over Sporting Gijon, and the midfielder slammed the "bigmouths" that suggested he was unhappy in the capital.

"I've said it many times", Isco said. "But, finally, we've played lots of hard games". "We're playing match-to-game".

Pained Bottas says Mercedes team orders made sense
Both Mercedes drivers used the safety auto incident to pit for new tires, but Hamilton made the mistake of holding up Ricciardo. Poor Hamilton could do nothing but anxiously look towards his left as Vettel's scarlet vehicle streamed by, slotting in ahead.

Goals from Duje Cop and Mikel Vesga for the home team were toppled by an Isco brace and Alvaro Morata at the El Molinon Stadium.

Sporting's joy was short-lived as Isco was allowed a touch too much room inside the area, shuffled away from Carlos Carmona, skipped past Vesga and Fernando Amorebieta, and lashed a shot into the top corner for a similarly high-quality equaliser.

Coach Diego Simeone also left out a number of his first-team regulars with top scorer Antoine Griezmann left on the bench for the full 90 minutes.

Atletico are next up and aim to cement their place in third at home facing bottom of the table Osasuna, who nevertheless travel to the capital following consecutive wins, which will probably do little to help their campaign to avoid the drop.

Zidane said he did not plan to call on any backup from the club's Castilla reserve side, while adding that rarely used left-back Fabio Coentrao could get a runout against Sporting. He was not to be denied, though, driving a low shot inside the post from outside the box in the final minute to win all three points.

Atletico had two penalties saved, Salvatore Sirigu making two saves in two minutes.
