Friends and family will be received on April 17 from 2 p.m.to 7 p.m.at the PNC Chairman's Club at Heinz Field.
The funeral mass will occur the next day, at 11:00 a.m. ET at St. Paul Cathedral in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh.
Rooney died Thursday at the age of 84.
Rooney, in addition to his ownership duties with the Steelers, a franchise founded by his father, served as USA ambassador to Ireland during Obama's first term. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf ordered the Commonwealth flag to be flown at half-staff across the state to honor Rooney.

Samsung carried out investigations and found that faulty batteries from two different suppliers were the culprit behind the fires. Devices not refurbished and resold will be broken down for parts and their unusable components recycled, the company added.
The family is asking people to make memorial contributions to Rooney's alma mater, Duquesne University, or the United Way of Southwest Pennsylvania.

"Mr. Rooney touched everybody he ever met. Words can not express the impact he had on me, my family and our organization on a daily basis". Followers of that sport will also remember him for the Rooney Rule, and his efforts at promoting greater inclusion and diversity within the sport.
