Emphasising on peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, Modi said challenges like terrorism and cyber security require global strategy and solutions.
The key counter-terrorism pact was inked between the Indian Home Ministry and its counterpart in Australia as both the Prime Ministers witnessed the signing at the iconic Hyderabad House in Delhi.
Malcolm Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia, on Monday said that talks with India on trade pact not as fast as desired. Modi said, "We have just inaugurated the TERI-DEAKIN Research Centre on Nano and Bio Technology, which is a classic example of the kind of cutting-edge science and technology cooperation that is happening between our two countries".
The Prime Minister congratulated Modi on the creation of the International Solar Alliance, adding he was "very happy to announce that we will join that alliance".
A high-powered delegation from the education sector will also be accompanying him. As for defence ties, the two countries agreed that their ties are solid as they recalled the Special Forces Bilateral Exercise which took place in October. "We look forward, Prime Minister (Modi) and I, to making that even stronger in this visit", Turnbull added.
On his part, Turnbull said Australia was helping India in its water management policy while sharing expertise in the area of renewable energy.

Malcolm Turnbull will turn his focus in India from trade to security on the second day of his visit to the subcontinent.
Besides, the "International Trainers & Assessors Training Courses" was also launched by the two Ministers as a joint initiative between Government of Australia and MSDE-National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
"Our ties are strong and will be stronger because of this visit", Turnbull told reporters at the ceremony.
