Real Madrid's title hopes were dented as Antoine Griezmann grabbed an 85th-minute equaliser for city rivals Atletico Madrid in a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

While Atletico still has one of the best defenses in Europe, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zindane applauded its improvements in attack under Simeone, and Griezmann.

Pepe then opened the scoring in the 52nd minutes as he rose up to head home a free-kick from Toni Kroos, leaving Oblak with no chance from 12 yards out.

Barcelona failed to take advantage of the opportunity Atletico Madrid gave it to pull level with leader Real Madrid, where Antoine Griezmann's late equalizer grabbed a 1-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu hours earlier.

Real will find it tougher to compensate for any similar errors against Atletico, who have conceded just one goal in their last six games in all competitions. We put in a great performance but with five minutes to go we lacked that bit of concentration. We had chances to get two or three goals but you have to congratulate the team. We are happy to get these calls but for now, I am happy here and in a good mood.

When asked about the possibility of a move across town to the Santiago Bernabeu, Griezmann said: "I can't say yes or no". The result means Real Madrid are top of the table with 72 points from 30 games, just three ahead of Barcelona.

That is the way the score remained until two minutes from time, when Sevilla finally finished off Depor with top scorer Wissam Ben Yedder netting his 10th league goal of the season.

Now let us look at the all-important points table of La Liga this season and after 30 games, Real with 72 points have a three-point lead over FC Barcelona, who have played as many games. Just like that, the La Liga title chase became a lot tighter for the Merengues.

"I have already said, I will wait for Madrid until the last second, I sacrifice every day to be here", Pepe said at a supporters' group event on Sunday.

"My future? You'll have to ask someone else about that, I dedicate myself to working hard and with enthusiasm".

He will continue to be assessed but is a major doubt for the first leg of Real's Champions League tie against Bayern Munich in Germany on Wednesday.
