The four-star shooting guard picked Kentucky after being released from his national letter of intent with Cal following Cuonzo Martin's departure.
Less than a week after receiving a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky, four-star shooting guard Jemarl Baker committed to the Wildcats on Tuesday.
Kentucky met with Baker on Friday and he committed to United Kingdom just days later. I know I'm going to be challenged and pushed every day by the coaching staff and it's something I look forward to. Calipari and assistant Joel Justus had an in-home visit with Baker last Friday before the California product met with Arizona's Sean Miller, Oregon's Dana Altman and Marquette's Steve Wojciechowski later in the weekend. ESPN ranks him 65th overall and the 19th-best shooting guard. Baker is the seventh class of 2017 player to commit to Kentucky. Calipari needs to continue to add some players like that and to fit in just the shooter he needed so late in this recruiting season is just another example of the depth of Calipari's recruiting plan. Johnson is still setting up visits, but Kentucky is viewed as the early favorite in his recruitment.
