Former San Antonio Spurs star Tim Duncan has been named an as assistant coach for the team on Gregg Popovich's staff.

The Spurs have hired Duncan as an assistant coach, the franchise announced this afternoon.

The San Antonio Spurs announced Monday that fans will see a familiar face on the sidelines this season when Duncan takes on the role of assistant coach.

A 15-time All-Star and two-time Most Valuable Player, Duncan is the Spurs' all-time leader in games (1,392), points (26,496), rebounds (15,091) and blocked shots (3,020).
